"To photograph: it is to put on the same line of sight the head, the eye and the heart."
Henri Cartier-Bresson
Hello and welcome to my page!
My name is Aneta. I started taking pictures back in the previous century when we hadn’t yet dreamt about something like digital photography. I immediately fell in love with all the processes of analogue photography. It was fascinating to learn how to direct control over all aspects of picture development, starting with setting up my camera to capture everything that I'd like to be locked in the image, the feeling of light, the feeling of space, the feeling of emotions and last but not least the truth of the moment. All of those without looking at the camera's screen as there was no screen at all in those days. Then I used to spend nights in my bathroom under an enlarger smelling all the chemicals which was for me the best smell in the entire world and I still can recall it. It was a wizard's work. Conjuring the images slowly to life from the white of the paper. Seeing it for the first time was actually a mystical experience for me. I went to the best school in the world in my opinion and Warsaw School of Photography was based in Warsaw, my city! Marian Schmidt was the founder of the school. He was a great individualist, big humanist and inspiring mentor. The idea of the school was to teach us (8 students in one academic year) firstly empathy, then freedom of creative exploration, truth to ourselves and humility for the world unfolding in front of us. Warsaw School of Photography was a turning point in my life. I met many masters of photography, and have learned not only how important the light and composition is to tell our story, but the most important thing I've learned is how to see beyond what is seen. How to stay vigilant as a photographer and not miss a decisive moment. And with the passing years all this knowledge has stayed with me, despite having replaced my analog cameras with digital ones. I always stay vigilant and aware of lighting, composition, and manual settings to embrace atmosphere and give the images their life, and most of all the authenticity of what I see. This is my bible for my commercial work in photography studios shooting products and this is my inner guide for photographing people while travelling the world in search of authentic life, and for photographing weddings, celebrations of love and happiness.
On my photography journey I was fortunate to work with many individual designers to photograph their collections, such as Daniel Blake, Justine Tabak, Faune, White Stuff, Neem. I have had my work published in Elle Magazine, Elle Deco, Cosmopolitan, Instyle, Harvey Nichols Magazine. My travel street photography video installations were screened 3 times at Foto Art Festival at Bielsko-Biala, and recently some of my work has been published in Tokyo in the Photobook " Half of the Sky" among the other great Woman Street Photographers. Privately I am the mum of a teenage girl, lover of world cinema and intimate gigs in local pubs. Life is my inspiration.
